Main Camera

The Vivo V30’s main camera produces clean, colorful, and sharp photos during the day. However, overcast may cause thicker shadows. The dynamic range is good, and fine detail is present in all scenarios, even indoors. However, a slightly brighter exposure and better noise reduction in uniform and dark areas are preferred.

2x Zoom

The 2x zoom samples provide high detail rendition but are too fuzzy for our taste. In challenging scenes, the noise reduction algorithm smears away fine detail, making the scene softer. We have seen better 2x zoom implementations.

Selfie Camera

The Vivo V30 5G boasts an impressive selfie camera that produces detailed, sharp photos with real-life colors and natural skin tones, with good dynamic range and minimal discomfort in challenging scenes with insufficient ambient light.

Video Recording

The Vivo V30 5G camera records at 2160p at 30fps for main and selfie cameras, and 1080p for ultrawide footage. The standard 4K footage is stabilized, while an Ultra stabilization mode limits resolution to 1080p for action camera-like stabilization. 4K footage is solid with contrast, sharpness, detail, and vibrant colors, and overall rendering is impressive despite overcast. The ultrawide camera caps at 1080p, despite the sensor having enough pixels for 4K footage.

Competitors

Vivo smartphones are often more expensive than their direct competitors, but the V30 stands out with exceptional camera performance, unmatched battery life, and a competitive display solution.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is a comparable option with a comparable display, faster charging, and decent stereo speakers, unlike the V30’s single, bottom-firing speaker. The Vivo V30 offers better all-round camera performance and longer battery life.

The Realme 12 Pro+ falls short of the V30 in most aspects, with Vivo’s solution running longer away from the charger, having a nicer display, and taking better photos. The Realme 12 Pro+’s advantage lies in its telephoto camera and stereo loudspeakers.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is a strong rival with similar features. It charges faster and has a powerful chip inside. But its cameras aren’t as good, and the battery doesn’t last as long. Still, it’s much cheaper, which is pretty impressive.
